History

UKBET (UK-Bangladesh Education Trust) is a UK registered charity and a registered international NGO in Bangladesh. It has been working in English language training, teaching and learning development since 1993. So far, to support capacity building in Bangladesh, we have trained over 2000 school teachers of English.

Recently, we expanded our priorities and activities and we are undertaking a pilot project for children who are engaged in hazardous labour. 200 children engaged in hazardous work in different areas of Sylhet City Corporation will be engaged through this project. Non-formal education, formal education, basic medical facilities, entertainment, counselling, parent and employer involvement, and many other activities will be included as part of the project. These activities will all be run from UKBET’s “Centre for Working Children” and delivered at locally identified community based centres.

In addition, we also run Environment related awareness-raising for different target groups  in partnership with organisations and bodies such as Rotary Clubs, Bangladesh Poribesh Anodolon (Bangladesh Environmentalist Movement) etc.
