When the Ramacrisna Institute came on thedotgood’s radar screen, we were certainly wondering whether it belonged to the old-timer category of charities providing care and support to their communities. Well, we had no chance to follow that train of thought. The Ramacrisna Institute – located in Rua Mestre Ramacrisna in Belo Horizonte, Brazil – believes, for six decades on, in people’s potential, and aims at multiplying their chances. The Ramacrisna Institute – located in Rua Mestre Ramacrisna in Belo Horizonte, Brazil – believes, for six decades on, in people’s potential, and aims at multiplying their chances. Their work has affected the lives of nearly two million people in 13 cities that belong to the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte, North-East Brazil. By offering professional qualification courses for young people and adults in situations of personal and social risk, the Institute is in a position to foster the development of each participant’s ethical and professional values and capabilities. What’s so unique about the Institute? This relates to its combination of innovative thinking when setting its curriculum – enabling it to earn the highest motivation and commitment from its participants – and of their self-sustainability, making it an extremely resilient social good organization in Brazil. The Ramacrisna Institute was created in 1959 by journalist Arlindo Corrêa da Silva, who believed in the potential present in every human being and in education as the best form of development for life. Ramacrisna's goal is to transform lives, promoting the dignified insertion of the assisted into society. It provides permanent free services, promotes the local development of vulnerable communities in Betim and 12 cities in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, in the State of Minas Gerais, having served over 1.8 million people by 2020.
Services in the areas of life education, professional qualification, job and income generation, audiovisual, art, culture, sport and environment carried out by the Institute.
