History

From these humble origins, Tzu Chi is now active on five continents and has provided relief aid to 100 countries and areas globally. Over time, the mission of Charity expanded to Medicine, Education, Humanistic Culture, Disaster Relief, and Environmental Protection.

The view that material deprivation as well as “spiritual poverty” can cause suffering was central from the start, so Tzu Chi not only provides physical relief, but also advocates the development of altruistic love for others, and selfless giving through volunteering.

Dharma Master Cheng Yen
When she ordained as a nun, her mentor gave one pith instruction: “Remember to always work for Buddhism and for all living beings.” This is Master Cheng Yen’s path, as she inspires spiritual cultivation and works to relieve suffering around the globe.

Please Briefly Describe Your Economic Model.
Support prosperity and love for all.
Small Donation Grass root bamboo bank movement
Your generous donation will help Tzu Chi provide emergency relief when disaster strikes, distribute food to ease hunger, offer medical care to those who can’t afford it, support students, and more. Being able to help others is a true blessing, and giving can become a way of life once you discover the joy of improving someone’s situation or bringing hope to replace despair. Giving on a regular basis ignites the compassion we all have within us, allowing us to pass on that torch to the people we meet each and every day. Together, we’re unstoppable in our power to ease suffering and change the world for the better. Donate today and ignite the fire within!

Mission

Our Mission
To help those in need with love and care: We’re all one family on this Earth.
Achieving wellbeing is the essence of human existence, but a variety of obstacles can hinder the goal and cause misery. Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation is an international humanitarian organization whose mission is to relieve the suffering of those in need, and create a better world for all.
In Chinese, “tzu” means compassion, and “chi” relief: with open hearts and helping hands, our volunteers are here to serve you.

The Bamboo Bank: No Good Deed Is Too Small
The power of pure intention is immeasurable: The Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation began with donations of pennies.
